Menu Improvements
« on: January 18, 2008, 04:08:38 AM »
one thing that always bugs me when i use rockbox is that if i go to sleep and want both sleep timer and wake up alarm, they're located in totally different places. to me it makes totally no sense that the alarm is located under settings->general settings->system (or something like that, can't remember exactly...)

wouldn't it make MUCH more sense to put the wake up alarm in the same place as the sleep timer?

Yes, I think 'system' is the logical place for both of them.

/Pedantic.  What release?  We haven't had one for years (since 2.5 for the Archos players).  If you write a patch and put it on flyspray it'll have a much better chance - 1) very few developers regularly read the forums and 2)  people will forget.

right, i forgot that there are no releases... well i don't really know how i would have to write the patch, but i think it would take one of the developers like 5 or 10 minutes to do one...

anyone around that knows how to write such a patch?

oh come on, that's ridiculous...

i wrote "i think" and "like"... so i don't know. but i have a little programming experience, and i think (no i don't know it, i'm just guessing ) that it's a little thing to change. but as i never looked at the rockbox code it would take me a lot of time; on the other side probably it wouldn't be a big deal for a developer to change that or write a fix for it.

and secondly, this is a forum for serious discussion and suggestions that might improve rockbox... but if you don't want a better rockbox, you're welcome

if developers don't even read this forum and forget about it anyways, what's the point of this forum?

For users to ask other users questions and get answers without bothering the developers.

If anyone has any serious recommendations for menu layout improvements I just brought this wiki page back from the dead:

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/MenuLayoutDiscussion

---

And also added a new menu layout proposal if anyone is interested in providing feedback.
