Recording on iPod 3. gen

(1/2) > >>

krm:
I have just installed Rockbox on my iPod 3. gen.
The record option does not show up in the main menu - how do I activate the recording feature? Is it a plugin?

Regards
..kristian

pixelma:
As far as I know (and can see), the 3rd generation Ipod cannot record. Recording is not a plugin but a core feature and it is not "enabled" for this type of Ipod.

fizzybrain:
Err... I don't think pixelma is correct. I believe it is possible to record on a 3G; at least it appears to be possible with ipodlinux (3G specifically mentioned at http://www.ipodlinux.org/Recording ). Speaking, admittedly from a point of view of almost complete ignorance, I would have though that would mean it is technically possible to record from Rockbox on the 3G too. But it doesn't show up on mine either. Anyone working on this? Or are we going to have to triple-boot...?

linuxstb:
Yes, 3G ipods (and maybe earlier) are physically able to record, but it's not implemented in Rockbox yet.

AFAIK, no-one is working on it.  It could be you...

Yeah, and monkeys could fly out of my ... rockbox ipod.
I wouldn't know where to start (happy to help out on testing though :-) )
