How often should rockbox be updated?

(1/1)

charles_pratt:
Hello!
I've been using Rockbox since July or so and I really love it.
I was wondering how often I should download and install a new daily build. Every few weeks? Every month? Does it matter? I'm not a very savvy person with this stuff. I read the daily change logs and its all greek to me. I like to keep my rockbox updated with the latest and greatest though.

Thanks.

Update when you see something you like. For example, recently we added Album Art. That would've been a good time for many people to update, since they wanted that feature.

Basically, "If it isn't broken don't fix it." Update either if you want to stay on the cutting edge and help report and fix bugs, or only update when you see something fixed or added that you know you want. No reason to really do anything between, unless you just randomly decide to see what's new.

Ok, great! Thank you. :)

Although I'm not interested in Album Art (I like a more complete WPS with what's playing, what's next, etc....) a new database feature was recently committed that allows me to go to the database under albums and pick "random" and it loads up a random album for me to listen to.

I currently do sync's to my Sansa Rhapsody using Winamp, since Winamp supports autofill with complete albums, so that feature with the ability to just have the player randomly throw up an Album is very nice.

Sometime's I just like the player to pick for me, and that is a nice feature that just got committed.
