iAudio X5L: No sound coming out

(1/1)

afruff23:
No sound comes out when I play music files. However the radio works fine for some reason. It is not the music files causing the problem.

In the original firmware, no sound comes out when I play music files. The radio stays stuck on one station and the player freezes, but I can listen to the one station clearly.

I think it's a broken headphone port. Am I wrong?

UPDATE: The headphone port works but only with amplified sound equipment (i.e. a stereo system) but not with unamplified equipment (i.e. headphones).

The line-out only works with amplified sources only in the original firmware. No luck with line-out in Rockbox.

UPDATE:

I can get sound coming out sometimes, other times I get no sound, and other times I get sound but with a LOT of distortion (like a bad radio station signal).

Does anybody know what could be causing the distortion at least?

Febs:
Have you tried different headphones to make sure that the problem isn't a bad headphone plug or cable?

(Sorry if this is obvious.  Just trying to eliminate potential causes of your problem.)

afruff23:
Yes, I get this both when I use my cassette adapter in my car and my headphones.

afruff23:
Could it have something to do with the fact that I've been using a Samsung cell phone charger?

The X5 says to use a 5V/2A charger. The Samsung charger is 5.5V/0.5A
