Ipod Nano 1G - Freeze problem

(1/2) > >>

Hi all,

About a month ago, I installed rockbox on my Ipod Nano 1G 4GB. It's been working fine and I only experienced 1 or 2 problems which were solved by resetting it. But today, when I switch on my Ipod, it loads up, tries to resume playback but freezes. I did a few resets (holding menu+select), it restarts but same thing happens. The backlight stays on and there's no response from the ipod.

Can someone assist me?

Try connecting your ipod to your computer with with the hold switch on (which will reboot your ipod into the orig apple firmware), and install the most recent build, (ie, download the most recent build from the current build link on the left and copy the .rockbox folder to the root of your ipod overwriting the existing files).  It may also be that your config.cfg file is corrupted.  Delete this file from the .rockbox folder and reboot.  You will then have to readjust some of your custom settings.  Hopefully this will solve your problem.

I just did that but the ipod didn't respond. But it worked when I quickly switch on hold after resetting it.

Now it's connected to my PC but I can't access the ipod because it says "The disk is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"

Does this mean my ipod's disk is faulty, which caused data corruption?

I don't mind losing the mp3s since I have a backup, just wondering if there's any way to fix it without formatting it.

Thanks for the help! :)

It sounds like something on your disk got corrupted.  You will probably have to reformat your disk, reinstall your apple firmware, and then reinstall Rockbox.  I don't know what else to suggest.

Before that, why not try running chkdisk or something similar on it to see if it can fix it.
