LambdaCalculus:
What model of iPod do you have, and what did you use to extract the firmware to the root of the iPod?

jjcole13:
I have the 1st gen nano, 2gb for what its worth, and i i dont know if i am doing it all correctly, could you plz help me more, the manual is kind of the bare minimum and im not the best with computers but i still know what programs are and how they work

Febs:
If you want us to help you, you are going to need to answer the questions that are posed to you.  LambdaCalculus asked you what you used to extract the firmware to the root of the iPod, and you haven't answered his question.

Your problem is that you haven't properly extracted a Rockbox build to your player, and so Rockbox is not finding the file rockbox.ipod, which is supposed to be located in the directory /.rockbox.  It would help us to troubleshoot your problem if you would describe exactly what the steps you are taking to extract a Rockbox build, so we can figure out where you are going wrong.

In the alternative, you might want to try using the Rockbox Utility to install the Rockbox build, as it will put all of the files in the appropriate places automatically.  There is a link in the manual to the page where you can download the Rockbox Utility.

Ark:
I have the same problem. I'm running a Gen 2 Mini, 4 gig. I used the ipod patcher for the boot thing, and the rockbox utility for installing the program. The folder is in the main ipod directory. Is the name of the folder actually supposed to be "/.rockbox"? Because, windows won't let me use "/" in a file name.
