'Unknown' Tags when ID3V2 tags are present
linuxstb:
We're always interested in fixing bugs - so please do provide example files, ideally accompanied by a bug report on the bug tracker, so it doesn't get lost in these forums:

DancemasterGlenn:
I'll file a bug report in a bit... what should I do to provide these files? Email them to someone? Link them up here? What works best for you guys?
DancemasterGlenn:
I'm under the impression I've found the problem(s) on my end... it seems that the files I ripped recently to mp3 (I used Sound Juicer) were tagged using ID3v2.4.0, which ended up not being recognised by Rockbox or Gnome, even while they were displayed in programs such as Audacious and Amarok. I used the program Kid3 to convert the tags to ID3v2.3.0 and they are now recognised by gnome and rockbox.
Then I found some files that had had 2.4.0 tags which were displaying in gnome but not rockbox, which confused me... but Kid3 showed me that for each of these tags the files also had ID3v1.1 tags, so gnome must be falling back on this when it doesn't interpret the 2.4.0 tags properly, something that rockbox apparently isn't programmed to do (just from what I'm seeing). (EDIT: changing these files from 2.4.0 to 2.3.0 fixed these files as well)
So essentially what I'm concluding from this is that Rockbox doesn't know how to handle ID3v2.4.0 tags. Is this true?
saratoga:
rockbox works with ID3v2.4.
DancemasterGlenn:
Weird. Not sure why/how I had and subsequently fixed that problem over here, then...
