All I want for Christmas
« on: December 24, 2007, 12:59:59 PM »
Is Rockbox
Hi all and season greetings. I can't install. Lets start with what I have and what I am confused about. I have for sure the Sansa e260R Rhapsody player.
Xp OS. I have two modes listed in my player. "play for sure" and Rhapsody. I have tried to use this page as the guide lines. http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallation.Play for sure mode acts more like MSD as it is listed as a drive. If I plug in using usb while in locked postion and holding down select button it just locks up. If I do the same thing but hold down the record button it goes into the recovery mode and windows pops up new device and loads the old drivers I have tried in the system device manger to unistall the Sansa driver and then manual point to the folder with the rockbox ini but get error---file does not contain the info for this device. What am I doing wrong here guys?

OK, that would be correct. On Windows, it "locks up" in manufacturing mode. That is why you use the special driver and e200rpatcher to access the device. From there, you just unzip rockbox and the BL to your player, no need to access recovery mode. This is all explained in the instructions.

Thank you but it was a total lock up. After some thought I have had some usb issues with other devices. So I just slide over to my kids computer and no problem. Now I get to play. Thanks Santa ;)

Yep, this is exactly why I prefer to recommend Linux over Windows. Windows has a ton of problems with drivers, different USB ports, etc. Linux is 999999x easier.
