do movies work?
« on: December 23, 2007, 10:51:14 AM »
hi, i have an ipod video 30gb with rockbox on it, and movies don't play anymore
(they are .mov files, because those seemed to compress the best, and they worked fine on original firmware)

now since i have rockbox, they don't play. is there anything i can do? i really need these videos to be able to play.. is there some plugin i can get?

P.S. i even tried to load up the original firmware, and play the movies from there, but the movies wouldn't play, does anyone know why that would happen? it loads for 2 seconds, and then it "ends" and goes back to the movie directory. really strange..
is it because i ruined the file structure of the original firmware? (i know they keep some weird file structure and rename all of the videos)

can anyone help me or tell me ANY way to play my movies? (on rockbox or not) thanks a lot  :-[

Rockbox can not play the same encodes as the original Apple firmware.
This is covered in our excellent manual (which you agreed to reference before posting in these forums) and http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer.

If you need them to play - you should have left well enough alone.  Regardless see below.

A stock Rockbox install should in no way interfere with the Apple firmware, its database, or its directory structure.  Suggesting anything more than reloading the movies through iTunes is really out of the scope of these forums.

thanks, i think i might of deleted those file structures manually myself (since i thought i wouldn't need them, so i could make more room on my ipod)
i will try re-uploading my movies back onto the ipod using I-tunes, i think that might fix it..
thanks
