Aurora Theme for Gigabeat
« on: December 22, 2007, 02:58:29 AM »

Hello. This is a theme I have created entirely from scratch using Photoshop CS2 (ie. does not contain any graphics apart from what is inbuilt in Photoshop) so there are absolutely no issues with copyright. Feel free to reuse the graphics to port the theme to other targets or create your own themes.

Features include:
  • Uses Unifont (so support tags written in many languages)
  • Supports IconSets
  • Supports Album Art (200x200)
  • Works on SVN daily build (does not require a custom build)
  • Both numeric and graphics battery/volume displays
  • Full date and time
  • Progress bar with Time Elapsed, Track Time, Time Remaining
  • Peak meter
  • Artist and Album titles scroll if too long for display
  • Includes Album Year and Track Number
  • [/li]

I hope you will like this theme. It's a bit complex, and presents lots of information, but is quite colourful and I find it quite readable.

Note: Does not support Next Song tags (no more room on display)

Nice work, I especially like the backdrop for the main menu... so relaxing.
The peak meter at the bottom is a nice touch.
I like that eveything is very easy on the eyes.

The only thing, I think, that can be improved is the pixels of purple around some of the images. It seems like the background never changes so just don't put any transparent pixels in the images. It's hard to explain but make the background of the images the background the image is over.
You know what I mean?

Very good work though. Thumbs up.

I know what you mean about the purple fringing. I need to trick Photoshop into not applying anti aliasing when blending. If a Photoshop expert can chime in with an answer, I will be grateful. Otherwise I'll play around with it.

In the worst case, I'll apply a black background on some of the icons. But I prefer to do transparent overlay if possible.

The easy fix is to make those pinkish pixels the full #FF00FF color so that they go away (though your edges will be slightly rough where they were), otherwise if you want the edges anti-aliased you'll have to do it with a background color similar to your background (so it doesn't stand out so much), or even anti-alias it to your background (so it matches perfectly).

Purple Fringing now fixed

I have updated the theme to version 1.1.

The purple fringing is now fixed. If you hit refresh in the the WPSGallery Wiki page for the Gigabeat or this thread the images should get updated.

Some tags are now right aligned.
