I want to use rockbox but there is one feature I wish I could have. Maybe you can do this, but I have 4g ipod greyscale. I love that on the fist screen of menus there's a command to just shuffle and tart playing. Is there a way to get this on rockbox?

If you set the player to shuffle mode, it will shuffle when you hit play.

Right, but what If I want to play just one artists, don't i now have to go turn of the shuffle mode?

I think the shuffle mode will work within the confines of a category.
That is if you navigate to a directory containing only songs by one
artist and select that directory to play it will shuffle only in that directory.

If you use the database and select an artist and select all songs to play
again it should shuffle only within that artists songs.

Is there a quick menu for the ipod 4th gen gray? If so, I can't seem to find it, and the documentation doesn't seem to make mention of the quick menu in very much detail.

This should be in the manual. Hold the actual menu button for a couple of senconds.
