Sansa c250: Screen contrast randomly dropping during use
(1/1)
epithetless:
After my positive experiences with Rockbox on an iRiver iHP-120 and Sansa e280, I decided to purchase a Sansa c250 for more of that Rockboxy goodness. Everything seemed to work fine for a few days, at which point I started having a number of issues with the device (it was a refurbished player...but I'm thinking not quite refurbished enough) involving I/O errors and sporadic drive recognition on my WinXP PC. Many reformats and OF-flashes later, I've managed to get Rockbox back on there. The problem I come to you with now is this: During general use, the screen contrast randomly drops from its default setting of 85 (aka viewable) to something resembling 50 (aka barely viewable). The actual number in the Display settings doesn't change (it's still set at 85), but the LCD contrast has clearly changed. If I go into the Contrast settings and move the cursor, the display automatically "wakes back up" and returns to its expected contrast level...but it will end up dropping down on its own again eventually. So far, there doesn't appear to be a common pattern of button presses or directory/menu navigations which trigger it.
This is actually something that started happening before I went through all the reformatting and reinstalling, so it's not just this one isntance of Rockbox causing the problem. I thought at first it might have to do with my edits to the GSX WPS, but I see it now happening even with the default, unmodified themes. FWIW, I am unable to reproduce this problem in the OF.
My question: Has anyone else with a Rockboxed c200 seen this sort of screen behavior? Could it be a Rockbox coding bug, or does it sound more like faulty hardware? This particular player is seeming more and more faulty by the day, but I don't want to get another one only to find myself stuck with the same issue...
Khala:
This happened for me to, I only thought it was suppose to...
Is it a bug?
Llorean:
On a c200?
My c200 doesn't show this problem at all, which would suggest at least that it's related to hardware differences, at a minimum.
LambdaCalculus:
My c240 doesn't exhibit this problem either. Maybe you might have a bad LCD, epithetless?
