How to load ogg from Ubuntu/Linux onto an IPod 5g?

Hello folks,

I installed Rockbox on my Ipod 5G 60GB. All went fine. The reason why I did this is to play ogg-files on the IPod. But now I am stuck as gtkpod won't load oggs to the player. Amarok does not connect. After searching in Forums and Wikis I ask you now:

How do you fill your Ipod with ogg-files on ubuntu or other linux distris?

Cheers and thanks a lot!

You can just drag and drop. Rockbox doesn't need a special program.

Ok, I read now a thread about putting flac on an Ipod simply using the explorer ...

Is this the same with ogg? ut as I see gtkpod saves the music into directories as ipod_controls/F01 and renames the files to funny codes like gtkpod004751.mp3.
Is this simply to get unique names? Or is it a must? Or?!?

Thanks again.

Its the same for all formats.  It wouldn't make sense to have a different procedure for loading each of the dozens of formats rockbox can play.

Thats for the Apple firmware, not rockbox.

Cheers Folks,
i'll give it a try. So I will just copy all the stuff in my music directory into the music directory the ipod, right? Noo bothering about subdirs?

cheers again!

PS: This would be a nice point in the wiki or FAQ, won't it?
