Please Help : Sansa e250 bookmark problem
« on: December 18, 2007, 01:23:04 PM »
Hi,
Please help.
Simply want my Sansa e250 to resume play after a power cycle. I tried resume play, tried bookmarking. Neither worked. Both jump to the beginning of next song.
I do have the bookmark file created on Sansa and I can browse the list, but when I try to jump to it, it just skip to the beginning of next song.
How can I fix this?
Is this the limitation of Sansa e200 players?

Thank you.

How are you trying to resume play?  (In other words, what settings and/or buttons are you using to resume?)

Witout bookmark Rockbox setting:
Rockbox->Setting->General Setting->System->Start Screen to "Resume Playback"
1. Play a song
2. Power off player
3. Power on player. Player will jump to the beginning of next song.

===============
With Bookmark Rockbox setting:
Rockbox->Setting->General Setting->Bookmarking
Bookmark on Stop to "Yes - Recent only"
Load Last Bookmark to "Yes"
Maintain a List to "Unique only"

1. Start playing a song
2. Hit power botton to turn off player. Rockbox shows "Bookmark created"
3. Power on player
4. Choose the last played song from Rockbox->Recent Bookmarks and play
Player will jump to the beginning of next song.

Thanks

BTW, after paying close attention to the resume play.
Rockbox will actually jump to the right last stopped position then immediately jump to the beginning of next song.

Thanks.

Sound like you're trying to resume WMA files, which doesn't have a fully working seek function yet... If not WMA, what format are the files in?

Thank you.
I mainly play WAV files. Does Rockbox support MP3 resume one Sansa e250?

Really? WAV isn't the most space-efficient format...

Resume works just fine with MP3, as it does with most other formats (I'm not very familiar with some of the more "unusual" formats though, like ADX, NSF and SPC).

Thank you for the info you provided.
It is because the recorder I used for class lecture only records in WAV format.
I converted some to MP3 and sure enough they resume perfectly. I am very happy with the finding. I'll just convert the recording in the future to MP3.

Thanks to all who helped.

Rockbox RULE. I feel really sorry for those who have a portable player but can't use Rockbox on it.

I have exactly the same problem as Han, but using mp3 files, on a sandisk e280, and the latest rockbox build (see post date). What are the correct settings to get playback resuming correctly after a power cycle? I have the settings the same as I had for years on my rockboxed iriver ihp140, and they don't work.

edit - fixed my problem by installing an older build (1/17).

See this thread  http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=15160.0

Seems to be fixed on build after 12 Feb 08.  I am running the latest build and it has started working again.  It looks as if most of the 161xx builds had this problem.  Don't know what it was though.

See Flyspray #8511.

16099 does work. BTW

I tried Feb 12, 13, 14 builds, all with the same problem. Maybe you're doing something differently. Hope they getthis fixed.

I've been having the same problem (see recent thread). I just installed current build on my e250 and I'm still experiencing the same issues.
