I am trying to install rockbox on my 5th gen 30g ipod and this message comes up

Rockbox boot loader
Version: 2.0
IPOD version: 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK3008GAL
Partition 1: 0x0B 28521 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox, ipod:
File not found
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode

Im not sure if this matters but I'm installing it with a mac.
What do I do!?

AlexP:
Well, if it can't find rockbox.ipod you didn't unzip the build correctly.  Can you give a directory listing of your ipod?

You should have at least

x:\.rockbox
x:\.rockbox\rockbox.ipod

and more.

Note the full stop before .rockbox - it is important.

Also, please rename this thread to something descriptive as required by the posting guidelines.

Smallz:
Im using a mac and there isn't a directory listing that I can see.

AlexP:
There must be.  When your iPod is mounted, what is on it?

I don't knw where Mac mounts to, but lets guess at

/Volumes/iPod

What is in there?

/Volumes/iPod/.rockbox
/Volumes/iPod/.rockbox/rockbox.ipod etc.

Keep in mind that directories starting with a full stop on mac (and linux) are hidden by default, so your unzip software is probably mucking around and not creating it correctly.  Have a quick search on the forums, there have been theads on this before.

Oh, and PLEASE rename the thread to something descriptive.

Edit:

I gave in and searched for you.  There are many threads on this, but this one is fairly useful: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=11151.0

Smallz:
thanks that sounds exactly the same as my problem
