iRiver H100/H300: Battery drain while off.
« on: December 15, 2007, 07:29:56 PM »
I'm not sure if this is an issue with rockbox or all three Irivier's that I've owned.

Example:

I will turn my player off with aobut 40% battery life.  I will let it sit for about a day, come back to turn it on, and alas, the battery is drained to the point that my Iriver will not turn on.

Is this RB or have all three of players had bad betteries.

That should not have anything to do with Rockbox, but it sounds like bad/old batteries...

In three players?

Makes me suspicious.

If you weren't going to believe the answer, why ask?

If a player is off, it's off.

Noise.

You posted, you got an answer. There was no need for you to respond. In fact, your original post was nearly without worth. You didn't mention what player you had, or anything of real use.

Did you perform a battery bench on each to verify the battery was holding appropriate charge? Did you uninstall Rockbox?

It's not like you can't test this for yourself.

Considering we have thousands of users NOT experiencing your problem, statistics suggest it's your batteries. I don't see what's suspicious about that. You were given an honest answer, and you felt the need to say you disbelieved it. All I did was ask "Why bother posting if you don't care for an honest answer?"

If you wanted to be told it was Rockbox's fault, you could've just looked in the mirror and told yourself that.

It could be Rockbox's fault, but it's pretty much up to you to do some testing and find out if it is. I guess my "problem" is people who post not to add useful information, or ask questions, but merely add noise to the forums. Which is what I'd call your last two posts in this thread.

I've at least offered some suggestions, feel free to post again once you've done some testing, and maybe we can figure this thing out.

I'll make sure to go to misticriver next time I need help.

I'm not sure what your problem is.

I'm talking about three players here.  Three.  It doesn't seem to have this issue when rockbox is uninstalled.

My brother happens to have a digital camera that continues to take charge while it is off.  Anythings possible.

If you actually want rockbox to go anywhere, other than the techie advanced users group, you should probably tone down a bit.  RB is developed in people's freetime.  It's not like they are being paid, so you won't get a large team of bug testers and what not.  So if you don't think that something can go wrong, you probably shouldn't be a mod/admin.

Reread what I said. You again didn't add any useful information. Three old players with old batteries against thousands. If you're sure you're right, why are you rejecting my suggestion that you run tests? If It's only your players doing this, even if It's a Rockbox problem, you are still the only person who can test. Surely this is evident. You haven't even said what model player. Nobody here can read minds.

Oh. Read the posting rules. while the mobile interface doesn't let me edit, I can't imagine any good reason why you ignored the directions for topic names.

Clearly you don't want rockbox to expand among users.

I can't really tell how this thread got so out of hand, but I can say as much as this:

1) wafflesomd, you still haven't told us what player model you have. We can't help you if you don't even tell us that much.

2) it surely doesn't sound right, that the battery goes flat while the player is shut off for one day.

I've had this issue with two h120's and one h320.

See Llorean, he was polite.  Is it really that much of a challenge for you?

There is no need at all to be provocative now that LinusN has hauled this back on topic.  This is just as rude as anyone else was being.  Anyway:

As for the problem - could you try running a battery benchmark on a player (it is a plugin), and also when you turn off note the time + exact battery voltage (the bootloader tells you this, I think you can also find it in some debug menus, and then when you turn it back on the next day the exact time + voltage again please?

I ran battery bench, and let it sit over night.

How do I read the log file?
