rockbox refurbished 30 gig video ipod
devolution:
i just got this for christmas, it's default setting is the 1.2.3 firmware, which is way i can't run rockbox. is there anyway i can install a earlier update, like 1.2.1, over the 1.2.3? thanks so much for your help in advance, sorry if i'm not seeing something thats right in front of my face.
Spanky:
Yea you can opt for older firmware but I wasn't aware that the version of firmware would allow/disallow you to install rockbox, just as long as you could "hack" the firmware. I think you can use iTunes to change the firmware or you could try iPodUpdater. Hope this helps.
pixelma:
I'm not aware of any restrictions with regards to the original firmware's version on such an Ipod model that makes a difference in whether you can install Rockbox or not. Where did you get that information from?
(I'm about 90% sure that there isn't, maybe someone else could confirm for the rest.)
yapper:
Some of the old firmware for the 1G and 2G (original) iPods weren't recognised by ipodpatcher. I wasn't aware of anything like this for newer ipods though.
crzyboyster:
I'm pretty sure that you can just go ahead and run ipodpatcher on the 1.2.3 firmware. And besides, what's the harm in trying? I'm about 95% sure that it would work. Report back to us devolution!
