e280R won't play with normal sound & missing folders

peedoe:
I have a just installed rockbox and it starts fine, but when the menu comes up, I try to initialize a database and it states 0 files found (press prev to continue).  When I use the files menu option, it shows me my SD drive folder (which is empty), but where is the main memories 'folder'?  It only shows SD drive, photos, video, and tmp folder.  However, when I boot back into Sansa firmware, all of my songs are still there and play just fine?  Am I missing something to get this to work?  I was expecting it to show me lists like the Sansa firmware (artist, album, songs, playlists, etc).

Thanks,
Randy

rayjgu3:
update database
i believe this is what is needed

Settings>General Settings>Database>Update Now

peedoe:
I did that, that's where it says 0 files found, even though I have ~40 files on the device that play fine through the Sansa interface.

pixelma:
Could you give some more information about

- what type of files you have on there (I guess mp3 but it would be better if you confirmed)
- what type of tags these have (ID3 tags - version 1 or 2, APE tags?)
- how did you copy the files over to your Sansa and where did you put them exactly?

peedoe:
I got the database to create, but when the tracks play, they only play the first few seconds (sounding like Alvin & the chipmunks on speed) and then skips to next track (blew through all 10 tracks of an audiobook in ~30 seconds).

These are all .wma (non-DRM) files that play fine under Sansa OS and WMP.  They have ID3 tags, not sure of version, how do I tell?
I used several methods to copy them to the player with the same results under Rockbox (WMP in Rhapsody mode, WMP in PFS mode, directly copied to device drive, directly copied to SD card).

While I can see the file in the database, I still can't see any 'Music' on the root drive, only the SD card (which is why I did a direct copy to the SD card so I could use files menu option instead of database thinking that might help, it didn't).

When choosing files, I basically see this menu (player in car, so may not be exact, but you'll get the idea):

[SDCard1] (which then has an Album, Music, etc folder within)
Photos
TMP
Video
Version.txt

I don't see an Album or Music folder on the root drive (even though I can see them fine while connected to my PC (as 2 removeable drives).

What do I have to do be able to correctly play my files and see both 'drives'?

TIA,
Randy
