what to do with my crippled iAudioX5L?

(1/1)

tommus:
My beloved 30G X5L is currently at the Cowon repair facility. I dropped it (no smiley can express my anguish), and now it powers up and plays but the output volume fluctuates and sometimes the buttons don't work properly. They want $97 to replace the main board. The battery (batteries?) was previously replaced by Cowon (during a previous in warranty repair for the drop, which I thought was rather nice of them) and I haven't barely used it since then. Everything else (screen, HD) seems to work just fine, too.

Rather than put $100 back into this player I'm wondering if there a tinker out there who can use my X5L for parts. What's an X5L with a bum board worth to you? Let me know.

OR if anyone has a X5L board that needs a home, maybe we could approach my problem from a different angle.  Would you consider doing the repair for me or telling me how to do it myself?

P.S. my apologies if selling a used player on this forum is inappropriate...

If I were you, I'd look on ebay for a X5(L) with an intact board, but maybe a cracked screen, and would keep on using the X5L!
