play reservation on Iriver OF, how to use this feature in Rockbox?

My Iriver device which used the original firmware, I used to be able to search through all my music and select the next song to be played using the "A-B" Button and that would queue the next song to be played. How do i use this feature in ROckbox, and does this feature even exist?

with all do respect, I've read the manual several times and i can't seem to either get it to work, or cant figure it out.

Then why don't you say something like "The manual tells me to do this, but I'm not understanding what it's saying" so we have some clue where you are, and what part you don't understand?

is there not an easy way to use this feature? in the original hardware i just went to a song, highlighted it, and pushed one button, with rockbox you have to do like 5 steps supposedly, is there not a shortcut, an easier way??? plus also keep in mind, i've only had rockbox on my player for 1 day, i'm still learning everything about how to navigate, so sorry for my ignorance.

The only current way to do this is the way described in the manual. It sounds like you figured out how to do it, and just didn't want to believe that was the only way?

now that i have figured out how to do it, which one do i use when selecting a next song feature when after playing the next song to continue on that album that was inserted or play next??? If i totally confused you i'm sorry. Also how do i set it up once i have finished all the songs in an album to move on to the next album in line on my player?

There are a number of options that will help you here:

Auto change directory turned to on will play one directory then move onto the next.

To insert a single song into the playlist then after that song return to the original playlist, hold navi to get the context menu, then select playlist then insert next (if memory holds).  There was a one click to inert patch somewhere on the tracker, I don't know if it still there but you could try looking.

To insert an entire album whilst listening to another one, instead of doing context menu then insert next on a single song, hold navi for context menu then select insert next on the directory containing the album.  You will need to have recursivly insert directories turned on.

I hope this is what you want - rockbox is much more powerful than the iriver firmware for manipulating playlists, but you may have to for one or two functions use a couple more keypresses.

ok i played the last song of a album and i turned on the auto change directory, but it still starts at the beginning of the current album.

Do you have repeat turned on?

nope, i do not have the repeat on, it goes to the next song on the same album, but at the end of the album it's suppose to go to the next cd, but it doesn't. it just starts the album it just played but starts it in the beginning

Could you post the contents of your config.cfg file in .rockbox?
