Sansa c240 - Database issues
dbeg:
Successfully installed rockbox on my c240. When I connect the cable while rockbox is running, the screen goes blank on my sansa, and my computer says it found new hardware but cannot find a driver. If i connect while the sansa is turned off, the default sansa firmware loads and the computer recognizes the player as if rockbox were not installed. i can then add music like i always could (using windows media player, or drag and drop into the music folder.
when i unplug the device after i add music, the default firmware is still loaded on the sansa and it can see that the music files are on the device. when i reboot into rockbox i update the database but no music files are found.
i've read that i cannot have lyrics/comments in my id3 tags, so i cleared them but nothing seems to work...
AlexP:
Firstly, rockbox does not yet have a USB stack, so ignore the windows driver update. You need to use the OF to transfer files, and the booting into OF from off with USB inserted is therefore by design. his has been covered many times now.
Check to see if you can see your files in the rockbox file tree. The Sansa OF hides the Music folder, so you will either need to call it something else (the Sansa OF will still see them), or set rockbox to view all files.

do you mean rename the music folder? i made a new folder, becuase i'm unsure if its ok to rename the music folder, and put my music in it and i set rockbox to view all files, now i see a lot more in the file viewer but still no music files.
AlexP:
Yes, you can either rename the Music folder to something like Audio, or you can leave it as music but set rockbox to view all files. Then you will be able to see the Music folder in the rockbox file tree. Making a new folder like you did is also fine.
So if you go into this new folder in the file tree, what do you see in it? And what format are your music files?
dbeg:
I can see the Music folder, but I cannot even see the folder i created in the file tree. I have unproteccted mp3 files in both folders but neither has anything in them.
