used bootloader for toshiba gigabeat, now songs won't play

(1/1)

pandapandapie:
I have a Toshiba Gigabeat F40 that I just installed Rockbox on using the bootloader. I got it to install right and everything looks fine but I can't play any of my music. I went to Files --> My Music --> I picked an artist --> picked an album --> then it showed a blank screen. Not completely blank, the background and the bar at the top are still there, but there aren't any files in the album's folder. Where's my music?

Job Van Dam:
I don't know... could you be more descriptive as to what the background and the bar look like?

Rockbox can't play old Gigabeat SAT files only every other imaginable audio file on earth.

pandapandapie:
All of the songe were uploaded before I installed rockbox using the gigabeat room. Could that be why? I'll re-upload them and see if that works.

psycho_maniac:
Yes that is why. They cannot be encrypted. On the GigabeatFX wiki page it shows you how to make that SAT files work. Check here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort#Remove_SAT_Encryption_Optional

AlexP:
When you upload songs using gigabeat room, for reasons known only to Toshiba it wraps them in a layer of encryption, turning them into SAT files.  You can convert them back using the link psycho_maniac gave, but in the future you can use any other synching software, or much easier still, just copy and paste them to the gigabeat using explorer or similar.
