Build upgrade = loss of functionality?
« on: December 13, 2007, 04:27:27 PM »
I recently upgraded from a ~1.5 month old build to the latest for my Sansa e260, and I seem to have lost a bunch of functionality... or atleast it has changed.

To start, why can I only play music while on the WPS now? If I go to any other menus anything the playback pauses until I go back to WPS, I liked being able to browse and queue up more files in the playlist without interrupting my songs as they play, it never caused any interface lag or anything for me, even while playing the games with music in the background. Is there any option to change this back to how it was?

Secondly, where did the functionality for the bottom button go that opened the context menu do things like move/delete files on the player and such? It just returns you to the main menu when you press it, and I can't use it to just select an album or directory and add it to a playlist as I go, move files to the SD card, or simply delete files off the device. Is there any way I can get this back with up to date builds or an alternative method of doing this with the device?

I think both of your questions are answered by the fact that the keymap was changed, check out the manual for current mappings.

Ahh I see, so holding main select now carries the same function that the old submenu button mapping did, and submenu button will go back to the main menu without pausing what's currently playing while the main menu button does the same thing but pauses at the same time.

Thanks.

I'm not sure why a change in the buttons was necessary, I don't really like the "hold down select" instead of using the submenu button, it feels much slower.  If someone can tell me how functionality was increased with the change, I'd love to know.

I don't use a Sansa so I have no personal opinion on this.  However, if you want to know more about this change then why don't you search?  It has been discussed and discussed.
