Hey all, I just heard about rockbox and it looks cool. I have a Iriver US H320, I tried the auto install, but it just boots up the regular Firmware on the Iriver. Am i doing something wrong??? I have no idea what i'm doing/Wrong???

Did you go into the original firmware and flash the modified .hex file? You need to do this. Also, for some reason the US versions often require you to do this twice. Furthermore, you did use a non-US .hex to be modified right?
I haven't tried installing the iriver bootloaders via rbutil, just manually. If it still is having trouble, try the manual method outlined in the manual.

Ok, I'm not even sure how to modify a .hex file, but also if i'm using a different firmware not US, how will that affect the overall player?? How do i even get started getting RockBox on my H320???

Have you tried following the manual installation instructions in our very fine manual? See here

We have to modify the iriver bootloader to be able to load either it or rockbox. Â As safetydan says, try reading the manual install section (as well as the rest of) the manual.
The US H3x0s can play DRM infected files. Â When you install rockbox (using a non-US iriver firmware as required), you will permamently lose this ability within the iriver firmware. Â Other than that, different versions of the original firmware are pretty much the same. Regardless, it doesn't matter much as rockbox is so much better than the OF that you'll never use it again

YAY!!! I finally got it to work, I went to Irivers website and downloaded a 1.29 japanese version firmware and it works. It's pretty cool, so much more control and features that the original firmware. One thing i am having trouble so far, is when changing themes, sometimes the backdrop and font don't change. How do i learn about all of that stuff???

ok last question so far. I've got it working on my H320, the only problem so far, is everytime i turn the mp3 player off, the next time i turn it on, it always starts with the iriver firmware. Each time i want to use rockbox i am having to flash the mp3 player up to 2 times. Is this because currently i don't have the battery inside? I am waiting for a new battery, the original one finally died on me. Again, thanks for all your help, it's pretty cool being a newbie and getting so much help from you guys, never had that on any forum before, Thanks
P.S. Forgot to add something in here, I also never even did anything with the Bootloader-H300 file. Is that why it's diong this??? If so where does it go, I read the manual, patched the 1.29 Japanese Hex file.

The original firmware will start if you insert the charger while the player is off. You do not need to reflash the firmware just turn it off and start it without the charger (might be hard with a dead battery though).

ok, once i get the battery i should be able to turn on the player and it automatically start on rockbox. awesome. I've also noticed a feature not working or maybe i'm not sure how to do it. using the original firmware i could pre-select a song, could be any song on the player and it would go to that song once the current song was over by pushing the "A-B" button. With Rockbox I can't figure out how to use that feature. Any ideas???

Please try reading the manual. What you want is either insert next or queue next from the context menu depending on whether you want the selected song to remain in the playlist or not after playing.
Rockbox is a complete replacement, as is not intended to behave like the iriver firmware, indeed it is much more powerful. Please read through the manual before asking questions, you will get a much better response!

No problem, and I hope (and am sure) you will love it. Please do feel free to ask questions, but it'd be really helpful if before that you check out the manual and do a search.
Have fun!
