Plugins ALL giving Error

safetydan:
It sounds like you might need to update your bootloader. The rockbox.ipod file should be under .rockbox/, not in the root.

mike_302:
bootloader is v2.0.
by "installing" the zip, i DO mean unzipping it to the root of my ipod. the only reason i moved the rockbox.ipod file is to try and make it work after it wouldnt work the first time. BASICALLY, IF i simply unzip the rockbox file to the root of the ipod, the black screen pops up when i start up the ipod saying it can't find "rockbox.ipod" . But if I put "rockbox.ipod" into the root, then it loads rockbox, but says installation error and only loads the very base of the system.

LinusN:
Are you absolutely sure that the ZIP file is correctly unzipped to your iPod? It sure sounds like your unzip application screwed up somehow. If you have done it correctly, there should be a directory called ".rockbox" in the root directory of your iPod. In that directory you will find the rest of the files and directories:

--- Code: ---.rockbox
  backdrops
  codecs
  codepages
  docs
  eqs
  icons
  langs
  recpresets
  rocks
  themes
  wps
  database.ignore
  rockbox-info.txt
  rockbox.ipod
  tagnavi.config
  viewers.config

--- End code ---

safetydan:
Well for a current version of the Rockbox bootloader to work, the rockbox.ipod file must be in .rockbox/rockbox.ipod and nowhere else. So are you sure your bootloader is the latest? Also, ensure that your unzip program is overwriting everything in .rockbox.

mike_302:
OK, here is the problem I see. The computer renames the unzipped ".rockbox" file to simply "rockbox" . no period. And if I try to rename, it says that I need a valid file name. Guess I can't put a period in front of it?
