Does Rockbox run on Mac OS X?
(1/1)

I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but downloading the file on my mac doesn´t work, and I haven´t been able to locate system requirements anywhere.
I have an old 3G iPod, 30Gb, and it is not recognized on a Windows machine with a USB plug. It has Mac firmware on it. Is there any way I can install RockBox on it through my Mac machine (using firewire? or USB??)

Please be a bit more specific here.
What file are you downloading? What about downloading it doesn't work ?

You'll need to use a Windows iTunes install to convert it for use on a Windows PC.

I downloaded the rockbox.zip file for the 3G iPod on http://build.rockbox.org/
It seems to be an .exe file, thus only running on Windows, yet from the forum I get the impression the program could be started on a Mac as well
GodEater:
rockbox.zip is the file which needs to be extracted to your iPod. You don't "run" it on your Mac.
You'll also need either RockboxUtility (linked from the manual) or ipodpatcher (also linked from the manual) to install the bootloader to your iPod.
Both of those programs have versions for the Mac.

Thanks, I think that will get me further
