Help with my F40
« on: December 13, 2007, 04:47:27 PM »
This is my first time using rockbox, I was angry at the original setup on the player and the Amazon product forums recommended rockbox so here I am. I read all the way through the 'Getting Started' and 'Installation' portions of the manual and I did what it said (or at least I think so). I used Winrar to unzip the files on the current build page directly into my drive F: (which is my F40) then unplugged the player, turned it off, and turned it back on. At this point the directions say that there should be a rockbox splash page but there wasn't, it still looks exactly the same as it did before in every respect. What did I do wrong and how can I actually install Rockbox?

Turn off the gigabeat, flip off the battery switch on the bottom, switch it back on, then proceed to turn on your gigabeat.

All that did was reset my clock and background. I still didn't see a rockbox splash page.

Did you use the bootloader too?

It is located here http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort
Under Latest Bootloader
Be sure to follow those installation instructions exactly.
