Win Drivers / 30GB Ipod
« on: December 06, 2007, 01:25:00 PM »
Just installed on a 5.5 30GB iPod, so far it's working really well.  The only problem is I have to reboot to the iPod firmware to connect it to the PC for drive access.  If I leave it as Rockbox it will be identitified by XP but not be accessible (stays in New Hardware / Driver Search mode).

Is there a useable driver so that XP will identify it as a writeable drive?

The USB stack for iPods isn't complete yet. Use the original firmware for file transfers for the time being.

Not yet, this is being worked on (no time estimate.)
Rockbox makes itself known over USB simply so it can suck 500ma over the USB teat.  If Rockbox did not it would only be able to pull 100ma - thus charging would be slower.
For all the players which run on a PortalPlayer processor (iPods, iRiver H10, Sansas) you still need to boot into the original firmware for disk access.
