When you say that I have to keep trying, this means that I have to keep booting in mfr mode and trying to run e200patcher.exe, right? I won't have to install the drivers repeatedly, because they are there, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten that far?

Is there any way to reboot it other than taking the battery out? That's what I've been doing, but it's a PITA.

It took about 15 minutes, but it worked!

Holding down the power button for a long enough time will turn off the device in manufacturer mode.
