H120 not able to boot Rockbox

(1/4) > >>

GC1971:
Hi all,

I’m new to this whole game; and have got my first MP3 player. I am chuffed to bits with it and decided to try your software mainly for the sound settings; but hopefully for other as yet unknown things too.

I decided to use the manual installer; and everything went fine. I extracted the current build and fonts ZIPs into the player (and have the folder “rockbox” all fine); and got the boot loader patched OK; and upgraded the firmware too.
However when I turned the H120 on it still boots the iRiver’s software.

In the bootloader it says:
Version 6
3.99v
Result -1 –This bit flashes past very fast

I understand the -1 bit refers to not having the rockbox folder unzipped properly; so I updated and tried again. –Still no difference.

So I uninstalled, and reinstalled via the Utility; which says the bootloader is already installed and up to date. & it can’t seem to download the rockbox.zip file; (says received HTTP error 1129270319.) so I’m stuck.

Help! -Can anyone please tell me what to do now?

Thanks for any replies

LambdaCalculus:
What operating system are you running on your PC? Also, what program did you use to extract the Rockbox build with?

I ask that because some archiving apps don't seem to keep the . in the .rockbox folder intact, which can result in the -1 error.

Hi there,
thanks for such a promt reply!
I am using XP 2002 service pack 2 and AZarc Archiever

AlexP:
And what exactly is the directory structure on you iriver?

e.g. x.\...

GC1971:
It comes up as an I. drive;
I have a network drive that calls it'self I do i have to disable it in order to see the iRiver though.

Er; -do you mean this ie how it comes up on my computer when plugged in? -Or do you mean how it looks when you open the drive?
If so it's got:
RockboxUtility.ini
ihp_120.hex
iRivNavi.iDB
winamp_cache_001.xml
pmp_usb.ini
RockboxUtility.exe
.rockbox
then all the music either in folders or as MP3s

I hope that's the answer that helps!  :)
