Cannot install drivers for Sansa 200R

(1/2) > >>

tofudr:
I have repeatedly tried to follow the instructions for installing Rockbox on my Wooted Sansa 200r.  When I start the device in Manufacturing mode and click on the windows message (XPSR2) that tells me that an unknown device has been attached I click on the unknown USB device and try to manually reinstall the driver.  I navigate manually to the e200 manufac-driver location where the driver was unzipped.  It tells me that I have installed the new drivers, but when I try to see what drivers have been installed, a prompt says that no drivers are installed for the device.  When I manually navigate to the folder and click on the e200.inf file and try to install it I get a message that says "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

You have to boot into the original firmware to transfer files at this time.  Turn off your Sansa and plug in the USB cable; this is the simplest way to get into the OF.

Edit: Whoops, made the same assumption as Llorean did (or maybe he copied mine).  Sorry about that.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what that (transferring files) has to do with my problem of installing the rockbox drivers and then installing rockbox for this device.

Llorean:
There are no Rockbox drivers, and drivers have nothing to do with installing Rockbox (they aren't mentioned in the manual), so the only reason to hook it up to your PC is to transfer files once you've got Rockbox installed (and you won't get that message before Rockbox is installed).

The manual states:

   1.  Download e200rpatcher.exe
   2. Download e200-manufac-driver.zip and extract it somewhere on your computer
   3. Attach your e200R to your computer in manufacturer mode (turn on the hold switch, hold select and plug in USB while continuing to hold select for about 10s)
   4. When Windows asks for the driver, point it to the folder you extracted the driver zip file to
   5. Run the e200patcher.exe file and follow the prompts. Your Sansa should have some text on the screen. If the last line says "(something) aborted" then head to the forums and look for threads relating to your problem.
   6. If it says "Firmware Unlocked, Proceed to Step 2" then it was successful and you can continue.

It is these drivers (e200-manuf-driver) with which I am having the problem.  Without performing this first step, I can't run the e200 patcher.

Thanks for your advice.
