It's there, right from the initial Rockbox install.

That's a directory you (or the Sansa firmware) have created, it's not a part of Rockbox.

The best way to make sure you're seeing all the files that are on the device, is to set Settings -> General Settings -> File View -> Show Files to "All".

If you still can't see the files, you're looking in the wrong place, or they're physically not there on the disk.

had simular issue with my e260....i ended up makein a new folder in the root dir...i called it mpg, put files in there...worked fine...hope that helps

Do you have the option to see ALL the files? In the player? Sometimes it shows music only.

Thanks for the replies.  I've had some success with a different converter, so it appears I was doing something wrong with MediaCoder.
