« on: December 02, 2007, 09:21:16 PM »
i have a sansa e280r. i followed the instructions for this series and everything seem to go well, tha last steps where it says to disconnect the sansa and that is should refresh the database well that happened then turned off and booted again but it stayed in at the Sandisk screen and nothing else happened for a long time . I held the power button for 15 sec. and it turned off  then i turned it on again and the same thing happened I also tried to unbrick it but nothing happens their too. My PC doesn even detect it anymore.

So, there is no error message? Well, did you place .rockbox in your Sansa's root? Did you also place OF.mi4 in the SYSTEM folder? You are probably going to have to go into recovery mode, replace the original firmware, and then start over on the installation instructions.

I also had an issue that sounded very similar. It turns out that, despite the designation of "e280r" on the back of my player, I think the unit is actually an e280 rather than the e280r.

The device came with rhapsody, but I noticed that on screenshots of the e280r there is an icon called "rhapsody channels" that was never present on my system.

Anyway, I flashed the device (from recovery mode) with the non-r (ie just regular e280) firmware and then it booted up fine and is now suitably rockboxed.

I hope this helps - it's certainly worth a try with the non-r firmware.

mcp4444 I tried this with the e280 Patcher, but the patcher doesn't detect the device. I tried the e280r Patcher and it was detected by it, but still no progress.

Is there a way to start all over? The main problem with the current condition of the player is;

The player is not detected by my pc.

Look at the following thread (LOL another sansa e250r boot error thread!!! ) in this forum and try the steps I've outlined to get the original firmware back on the unit and then reinstall.

It's really pretty easy, but if you fail to rename the files as directed, or place them in the wrong place, your device won't boot.

However, if you can get to the recovery mode, you can always start over.

slasherfly, did you get a chance to try this http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=13673.msg102933#msg102933

It didn't work for me, tried it several times without luck. The player kept giving me this error "Load main image failed Switch to Recovery mode"

P.Opus Thank You for your thread.
