Cannot install Rockbox on GIgabeat F40 after upgrade to 3.0 Gb room

Long story i just got this Gigabeat megf40s i deleted some files like music and video using windows explorer i did not have software disc. I DL gigabeat room
and upgraded FW to version 3.0 Us NP. I then tried to load FW for Rock Box using winrar big mistake !!! My player was bricked. Performed successfully surgery on player and deleted bad rar files this fixed the problem and player is working again using GB 3.0. Now here is where i am at. I have tried many many many times to load Rockbox using correct intructions i found on this site. All attempts have failed i get Rockbox loader error message -2 and message -1 or System not found so i go in and delete Rockbox files and player is up again. I have repeated repeated attempts to load Rockbox but each time it fails to run and GB crashes. Can someone please tell me how to fix this i really dont want to keep player with GB 3.0 it sucks. HELP >:(

"Bad RAR files" sounds suspicious to me. We don't distribute Rockbox RAR compressed. Where exactly are you getting it from?

Sounds like you're not extracting the rockbox.zip file into your player. Open it in winrar and extract it to the root of your player (The drive letter assigned to it)

I got it from a forum where the instructions said to use winrar to copy files to drive this caused player to brick. So on second try i unzipped files to my Gigabeat but this failed but it did not brick player. what i have done so far i downloaded boot file and rockbox firmware from this site. I replaced boot files making sure i renamed FWIMG01.DAT to FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG and replaced with new file FWIMG01.DAT  in correct folder i then unzipped .rockbox file folder to my drive and verified file folder was there and had file rockbox.gigabeat in it. But after about five attempts trying different things player keeps booting with error message when i install rockbox after i delete rockbox files player works fine using GB 3.0. F40 is running fine on 3.0 but the software is garbage i really want to use rockbox. Can anybody advice me how to do correct install?

Well, for one thing, "I got it from a forum" needs to fixed. Use the official files, as described in the manual from the site.

When you try it with those, follow the instructions exactly as in the manual. Then, if you get an error message, come back here with the exact text of that message so we can help you.
