Belkin TuneBase FM report and HI! :)

(1/1)

Wingmann:
Hi. I've been using RockBox for a while in a 4G/gray that a friend of mine has mounted with spare parts.

My intention is to use it almost exclusively in my car, docked on a FM transmitter. The best transmitters I've used are from Belkin, so I bought a TuneBase and gave it a go.

These are the results:

- RockBoxed iPod recharges and sounds fine with this device, as long as you respect the next point.

- TuneBase uses the iPod screen to show information, so you can't use the RockBox soft when changing Volume output or setting new FM frecuencies. You can set those with the original soft and then use RockBox.
General volume is set only once and default is recommended so that's quick. Finding an empty freq or two and saving them in the 4 memories available is something you do once too, normally, so both problems are not a biggie.

- I've had intermitent problems with transmission quality, but only when using RockBox, never with OF. It seems that when using RockBox, sometimes the transmitter doesn't do its job properly. I ignore if this makes ANY sense, but that's what happens. Maybe the TuneBase and the iPod comunicate in some way for signal power... or auto levels affect that in some way.

If this review serves to make RockBox grow, the better :)

scorche:
We do have a wikipage for these types of things http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodAccessories :)

Wingmann:
I don't feel like I could edit the wiki, but I'll do if there's need.

Chronon:
It's not too complicated.  Just sign up -- there's a link on the wiki front page.  Then ask for write permission on the IRC channel (easiest way).  You can just copy and paste a line from the table, then swap out the info for the device that you're adding.

Welcome to Rockbox!   :)
