Is it ok to update your ipod?

i have a 30 gb (5g)? running rockbox. i installed rockbox in umm september so i dont know what build i have. my question is: is it ok to update your ipod OR try and make it have the classic look like the new ones while still being able to dual boot. sometimes my friends use my ipod and they dont like rockbox... if anyone could answer this or if you want me to make this clearer please post. thanks ~ (ps. when ever your asking for help online it always seems unclear)

An update will definitely clear the contents of the firmware partition and eliminate the Rockbox bootloader.  You will need to reinstall the bootloader to make Rockbox boot again -- not that this is a very big deal.  I am less willing to comment about modified firmware, but as far as I understand iPodWizard modifies the firmware in place, so the Rockbox bootloader should not be touched.  Of course, your results may vary.
