Cyrillic or Hebrew characters not viewed correctly

(1/1)

dumbo20:
I don't know, if that is the proper subforum for my problem, if not, please move that thread.

All below refers to a clean install of rockbox, with its original basic settings:

Until now I had an older build (approx. 3 weeks old), that could perfectly show files or menu-entries written in a language with non-latin signs.

Now, with the newest build (r15846-071129), I noticed, that rockbox doesn't show these signs correctly anymore. This behaviour is omnipresent: I cannot see proper filenames in "Files", I cannot read the cyrillic mp3-TAGs in WPS and I cannot read anything of the menu entries, if I change the language in rockbox to russian. Same happens with other non-latin languages, as hebrew or chinese. Trying other codepages (cyrillic and unicode) dind't have an effect:
Instead of showing correct chars, I still only see strange quads.

And: trying to change the font, I wasn't able to acess the fonts-menu: pressing while [Fonts]-Entry is marked, doesn't take me into the menu.

Are these newly occured bugs, or just some mistake made by myself?

PaulJam:
You need to install the fonts pack from here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/RockboxExtras#Fonts

Not every font supports all non-latin characters. An overview of the supported charactersets of the unicode fonts can be found here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DocsIndex?topic=UnicodeFonts

Thank you. Obviously this older version, that I used before, had another font. (Or maybe I had used a theme  ;) )
