Battery Empty! Recharge/reboot endless cycle for iPod 1G

(1/1)

wayn3w:
Hello,

i installed latest build of Rockbox on my 1st Gen Rockbox with no difficulty.  However, I cannot get farther past starting it up: as the main menu is first displayed, I get the screen "Battery empty! Recharge."  The iPod attempts to shut down, but it just starts up again, goes into the main menu briefly, and then back to the Battery Empty popup, etc.

By booting into the original firmware, I see the battery is considered full -- it has all four bars.  Why does Rockbox think my 1G iPod has almost no battery?  Is there something I need to calibrate, or can I force it think it is full?

I understand there is no 'off' mode with the 1G iPods, which it cycles.  I can live with that if I can actually USE rockbox on this iPod.

Thanks!

I noticed one other thing this morning:  when I eject the iPod and restart with Menu+stop, I see the picture of the cable (charging?) and the battery icon is completely empty with a number -25 next to it.  Again, the regular firmware thinks the battery is charged.

If anyone can help me make this thing look like it has an adequate battery, I'd appreciate it.

There was a commit that addresses the issue just a few minutes ago. Please update to the most recent "current build" and see if it fixes it.

And please use the "modify" button to edit your first post instead of double posting (if noone replied in the meantime) as per the forum guidelines.

Thank you, and I'm sorry I broke protocol.  I installed what I think is the current development build
(http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipod1g2g/rockbox.zip), rebooted, and I get the same behavior; that is, the battery appears to be empty to Rockbox but not to the iPod firmware.

Is there something I should be trying once I copy the new .rockbox onto the iPod?

Using the rbutilqt utility also produces the same results.

Thanks!

Edit 12/03:  I installed the latest development build, r15865  and I get:
     Undefined Instruction at CF004004 (0)
The latest daily build, r15871 still exhibits the problem where it thinks the battery is empty, and reboots.

Any advice?
