ipod nano rockbox update gone wrong...
(1/1)
valent:
Hi, I wanted to update my rockbox to a newer version and after update I can't make rockbox boot.
I have Ipod Nano 1st gen, and rockbox worked ok on it.
I had some bad files and wanted to reformat my data partition, in the process I also deleted .rockbox folder so as I was without rockbox I wanted to go with a newer version.
I have this partition setup:
partition 1 - firmware
partition 2 - linux boot partition
partition 3 - fat32 music partition
I have multiboot setup, at boot rockbox is loaded from /boot/rockbox (on parition 2) but it looks for .rockbox folder on partition 3.
I decompresed rockbox.zip to partition 3 and copied rockbox.ipod to /boot/rockbox on parition 2.
Now I only get the first rockbox screen (one with the loading bar) and it freezes there.
Did I mess up something in the update? ???
Thank you in advance,
Valent.

Probably only you know the answer to that one :-\ If you had it working originally, you should be able to recreate the placement of folders/files and it should work...
However, forum support is only for the official install. You will have to go back the original instructions or dual-boot provider if you are still struggling. There is an IPL loader (if that's what you are using) thread in the 'Unsupported Builds' board.

Sorry - this is definitely an issue you have with your bootloader, and not with installing rockbox. As you're using iPL's bootloader, you're pretty much on your own unless you can find an answer in the iPL thread in the unsupported builds forum.
