Note that a frequency response curve is often created by measuring response using calibrated microphones in a model head.  Much of the peaks and valleys you see (especially) in the higher end are creations of the shape of the outer ear, and should be flattened only if you know what you are doing - for this uneven looking response is completely natural and exactly the way certain frequencies are accentuated over others when you are listening to "real life".
