Equalizer Presets
Spanky:
Does anyone know if there is one out there that has been optimized for MDR-V6 headphones? I am planning on getting these and it would be nice to have a start on some equalizer settings. I know a moderator or admin will say "use the search function". I have and I have found some pretty good presets but I have not come across one yet for higher quality headphones such as the V6. I am just wondering if anyone has seen one while roaming forums or something. Thanks.

What you really need is to get a frequency response curve for those headphones. The EQ setting is then a matter of boosting and cutting where necessary to flatten the curve out.
Try Head-Fi.org

Slightly off topic, but the Sony MDR-V6 have a pretty flat frequence response. They're supposed to be studio monitor headphones. Why would you want to mess with that? If you want more bass, maybe look at some Sennheiser's in the same range.
Spanky:
I hate going off-topic but I have heard people have been using the same pair of V6 for 20 years and their specs are pretty much the best that I have seen around. I guess I have pretty well convinced myself into getting them. I also see people saying that Sennheiser's are good as well but I have never used their products, what are they like? What is a good pair for around $80? I don't care about style or size or portability. Mostly sound and comfort.
safetydan:
I own a pair of Sony MDR-V6's and they are indeed very good headphones. My point was more that they're not really the sort of headphone you're supposed to be tweaking the equalizer for. Actually most decent headphones shouldn't really need tweaking.
Anyway, before this veers further into offtopicness, see Head-Fi.org for more than you really want to know on headphones.
