I put download links for the m/c200 on the SansaAMS wiki page for people who don't feel like compiling their own builds.

@Urutoraman:  I'm still looking at the sd card driver to try to fix several issues, see my earlier response to OldOne.  There are still some issues going on that we don't really understand.  At this point it's mostly experimenting to find clues that will help put the puzzle together...

Just to be sure it is a speed issue, I went to Best Buy and bought a microSD 8GB from PNY for $22 bucks, it is a class 4. They only have it for that price these 4 days.   Went back home, transferred a bunch of music (around 4GB) and swapped the 4GB A-Data with this 8GB PNY.

Guess what.  Not a single hiccups, no more SD Panic errors.

Is there a bootloader and RB build available for the c200v2 yet? I've looked on the "status summary of unstable and unusable ports." page but haven't seen anything.

Hi.
Trying to install RB on Sansa c240 v2.

Quote
- Make sure your player is in MSC mode.
Done.

Quote
- Download and Extract the normal build (rockbox.zip) onto your device.
Done (http://build.rockbox.org/data/rockbox-sansac200v2.zip).

Quote
- Create a folder 'rbinstall' in your on the Desktop
- Extract the OF, the bootloader AND mkamsboot into that folder.
- Open a new command promt window (Windowskey+R->cmd.exe). CD to the 'rbinstall' folder ('cd Desktop\rbinstall')
- Run mkamsboot from the command line window you opened in the previous step, passing the name of the OF file you've downloaded and the the bootloader file you've downloaded, as well as a name you can chose yourself for the patched output file
(e.g. 'mkamsboot.exe fuzea.bin bootloader-fuze.bin patched.bin')
Done (click to view image).

Quote
- Copy the output file to the root of your device and rename it to whatever the OF file you've downloaded was named
Done. Name changed to "C200PA.bin" (image).

Quote
- Safely reject, unplug USB and wait for the firmware update to finish.
Done. Firmware is updating.

Quote
- You've successfully installed the bootloader and Rockbox. It boots by default. For booting the OF press |<< very quickly or plug the cable in while it's off.
Fail. Rockbox don't start. What I'm doing wrong?

PS. Sorry for bad english.

Does the bootloader start?

Does it give an error message? (unable to open .rockbox/rockbox.sansa or similar)

Just as a report, I am using a Lexar 16GB MicroSDHC card loaded with FLAC. Music doesn't want to play from this card or FLAC files. I was able to get the c250 to play MP3 files on a 4GB card, but I haven't tried any other capacity yet.

I also noticed the Disk Cache setting is missing in this port. That has helped on other RB DAPs.

EDIT - Just updating the report on the playability of RB on the c200v2. I inserted an 8GB Sandisk card with OGG files. I was able to get a song playing, but hitting skip caused the player to stop playing. It skips fine enough, but won't play. This applies to the 4GB Sandisk card as well.

Post the file sizes of the bootloader, OF, and patched firmware.

martlyk: note c200v2 still suffers form the same (known) playback bug than the Clip, which is tracked on FS#10605

tofmin: there is some possibilities:
  • You copied the unpatched original firmware to the disk, so double check that you copied "output.bin" and renamed it correctly
  • The OF boots instead of rockbox because USB is plugged
  • The OF boots instead of rockbox because button press (left) is incorrectly checked (we only had 1 c200v2 for developping the support and it's in the hands of bertrik atm)

Unfortunately no, it doesn't. It will play when it is powered on and a song is selected...of a format that it likes...but once the skip is pressed, it stops playing

If the patched and unpatched files are identical, then you probably haven't actually patched them and instead just renamed the file without patching it.  Start over, this time making sure you actually patch it.

Only size is equal. OF = patched = 5 243 904
MD5 checksums and modification dates are different.
