iPod nano strange sound glitch problem

I have been seeing the same problem. If it is placed on a wooden surface or in the pocket it will play better without any breaks, but in the hand or on a carpet surface will break after 30 minutes or so.
Funny when i had the original firmware there was no problem. Could it be a cross feed issue?
Some help here will be appreciated.
