iPod 2nd sound breaks
eugenez:
Hi,
Could you check changes in buffer management algorithms, please, I think ?
I have used till now b. 15203 because all newer I have checked create problem:
any time hard disk read cause music break about 1 sec or less but I can hear that and that disturbing. In 15203 it isn't.
on bigger files (flac) about 20-40Mb hard disk reads are enormously frequent and break on each minimum 1 sec long.
I have copied always newer version of RB to disk, start play same music files and I should return every time to b.15203. Maybe it has been happened after this build but I hadn't loaded every build during this time - only maybe 5 of them.
Last I have checked was 15838. Definitely it was in 15550.
I don't know how to create bug report.
Thanx in advance

There's a link to the left that takes you to the bug tracker. You just need to register for an account on the tracker and then you can file a bug report for this. This forum should be used for discussion. Perhaps others can describe whether or not they are also experiencing this bug. Also, does this occur with all file types or only certain ones?
[Please use "thanks" rather than "thanx" in accordance with the forum guidelines.]

I've been using my 2nd Gen (old Firewire) iPod with mp3 files.
Large files (e.g. 230meg 160k mp3) certainly do NOT show this problem with r15831.
It might be worth checking for disk fragmentation ....
pondlife:
I'd expect the problem to be more likely to appear with FLAC or WAV files, where the rate of data being transferred through the buffer is greater.
To the OP, try disabling any EQ/crossfeed/dithering and use a simple WPS to save on CPU. Might help in the meantime.

I've just tried a 70meg FLAC with EQ/crossfeed/dithering all ON, and still have no problems (with r15831 and a WPS with one line of scrolling data)
