Video settings reset on Sansa E200

(1/2) > >>

Taslow:
I had video playing pretty darn well on this thing for a few days (audio almost synched perfectly with the video, as close as this thing is going to get I gather), then messed around with the 'display options' menu. Unleashed the FPS limit, messed with dithering to see what that was, etc. Didn't like the results because it messed up the audio and video synch (of course). I reset the settings, but the audio/video synch is still way off (as opposed to going back to what it was before I changed the settings). What's the recommendation here experts to get my video back to the default settings? I'm tempted to just reload the latest build and hope that resets things. Since that's easy enough to do, is that the best solution?

Chronon:
Is Rockbox remembering the settings changes that you make?  If you change the settings and then shut down (don't reset) and boot the player again do the settings stay as you set them?  Either way, it might be worth a shot to clear your settings and see if that fixes things.

Taslow:
Yes, setttings stay the same even after reboot. Even after changing the settings though, the audio still doesn't return to original. It acts like the settings permanently altered the file the first time I changed them. Has my Sansa become self-aware? Should I get out the hammer and the welding torch?

pixelma:
The mpegplayer settings are stored in an own config file - "mpegplayer.cfg" in ".rockbox/rocks/viewers".

It should be possible to just delete this and at next launch of mpegplayer it should start new with the default settings and will create this file again.

Chronon:
Thanks for the info, pixelma!  I should remember that plugins generally store their settings in this way.  It still seems like there's something queer with the settings handling, though.  It seems to store the settings, yet the behavior doesn't seem to change.
