I recently read an article that the ntfs file system has the capability to do symlinks, so it might be possible to have this in windows, too.

According to Wikipedia:

Quote
Symbolic links were introduced in Windows Vista. Symbolic links (or Soft links) are resolved on the client side. So when a symbolic link is shared, the target is subject to the access restrictions on the client, and not the server.

I think it would be best to maybe wait for a more full-blown app, or take Rincewind's advice and symlink to your music folder in Linux.

Junction points have been in Windows since at least 2000 (maybe NT4 as well), and will do what you need.  If you don't care for the built in tools, this works nicely:

linkd is the appliation you need, and it works a treat. I have all the simulators on my PC linked to a single music directory and it is seamless...

It shouldn't be required to run the program (if it's in a local folder that you have access to), but you may not be able to create the link itself.

Fortunately, you're on Windows, so an admin exploit is just a quick a google away.  :P

How do you load tracks ? bar having them inside a folder for the sim ?
I would also like to do this but would prefer to keep my music in a different Folder to the sim.

Rather than using links, you may prefer to use the --root option on the rockboxui.exe command-line.

You'll need your .rockbox folder alongside your music files, but that works nicely for me.

It worked without admin access.
I had installed it on my home machine and copied the folder to a usb device then copied to my work pc. now it works no problems. and I can use rockbox on my pc and iAudio x5. Happy Days  :)

Actually there is mouse support and it even works rather well! You simply need to add the following line in your config-target.h file:
Code: [Select]
#define HAVE_TOUCHPAD
This feature is described in TouchpadInterface.

On Ipod Video simulator, made the SCROLL_BACK and SCROLL_FWD button stop working on menu list (root menu, file browser, database, settings, playlist, plugins, system menu, etc). Still working on WPS, recording, virtual keyboard, everything but not on menu list. This is a bug? I am using 20071204 source .
Thanks.
