I think it would be best to maybe wait for a more full-blown app, or take Rincewind's advice and symlink to your music folder in Linux.

Junction points have been in Windows since at least 2000 (maybe NT4 as well), and will do what you need.  If you don't care for the built in tools, this works nicely:

linkd is the appliation you need, and it works a treat. I have all the simulators on my PC linked to a single music directory and it is seamless...

Thanks for the help guys. It's for a locked down windows 2000 machine where I don't have administrator access. will this be required ?
