Good EQ sound settings?
safetydan:
Have you tried just resetting the settings to 0db across the bands? It should only sound crackly and distorted if you've pushed the gain too hard. Generally try and cut frequencies rather than boost them to avoid distortion. Also make use of the precut to keep things from clipping.

I'm usually pretty good with systems, but this one is beating me.
Just sitting here listening to it on the quiet side the speakers are distorting.
I'll keep tinkering with your suggestions...
safetydan:
Speakers distorting? Does it distort also on headphones?
If you're still getting nowhere, try using one of the presets. They shouldn't cause distortion. If that doesn't work, you could try doing a full settings reset and see if that fixes things. Though that might be a bit drastic.
TexasRockbox:
For the ipod try the hardware EQ for the upper and lower shelf. To adjust the gain upward scroll down to the positive values. +6 at 80Hz and +2 at 9Khz seem to work well for me and as I understaand it, the hardware EQ may use less battery power.
Savage:
Went out in the SUV and messed with the settings. Â A couple of them sounded good but I think it sounded the best with EQ off. Â Got it nice and loud without distortion. Â (Very impressed that we can get this good of sound through a tape adapter)
So I bring it in and hook it up to my pc and it sounds like poo. Â All of the deep sounds are gone. Â I can't control the volume on my mp3 player either? Â But when I play the same song that's on my pc it sounds great. Â Play it thru the player and it sounds weak????
