How can I modify the clock so that it shows AM/PM?

Unable to switch to 12hour format

I'ved tried to switch to a 12hour format in my theme but it always just revert to 24hours.

The setting in the menu does NOT change the time in the WPS, for that you need to change the WPS: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CustomWPS
