Newbie Issue with WPS browsing
« on: November 20, 2007, 10:10:10 PM »
Hi,

Just installed RockBox, on my 80 gig iPod.  Everything works except browsing WPSs.  I unzipped them to the iPod, even overwrote some just to make sure they are there.

When I browse WPS I get..

Boxes, iCatcher, rockbox_default, Rockboxed, UniCatcher.

I installed about 7 WPSs I downloaded, I cant seem to browse them

Whats up?

Thanks

Steve

Where are you extracting the files?  Properly set up theme files should be extracted to the root of your player.  In other words, just extract them direct to the player; do not extract them to any folder.

Yes thats what I did,  I extracted them exactly like the main zip files and the font file.

I just dragged the .rockbox folder on to the iPod.

When you have your iPod connected by USB, and you browse the .rockbox folder on your computer, do you see these new themes in the "themes" and "wps" folders?  There should be a .cfg file for each theme in the "themes" folder, and in the "wps" folder, there will be a .wps file for each theme, as well as a folder for each theme containing the .bmp files.

correctly made zipped wps's should make it so you only have to drag them to the root of the drive. just like how you update rockbox.

Found out the issue.   The unzip program I am using is creating multiple .rockbox directories.

.rockbox.1, .rockbox.2  etc.

Anyone know a good program to use for OS X I have tried zipit and stuffit.  Maybe its a configuration issue.

There seem to be ports of 7-zip for OS-X. At least for windows, it's pretty darn good.
